Indigo Prophecy -- also known as Fahrenheit in Europe -- the latest game from Omikron developer Quantic Dreams is now shipping for PC, PS2, and XBox. The story takes place from several perspectives, including those of an ordinary New Yorker named Lucas Kane who is seemingly possessed into murdering a total stranger and the detectives who are trying to solve the murder. Gameplay is part adventure and part action and offers multiple paths through the story.
The game is described in further detail in Atari's official news release:
In Indigo Prophecy, New York City is stunned by a series of mysterious murders, all following the same pattern: ordinary people are killing absolute strangers in public areas. Lucas Kane becomes another one of these murderers when he suddenly kills a stranger in a men's bathroom. Covered in blood, Lucas regains consciousness with no recollection as to why he committed murder. Hunted by police, Lucas must uncover the dark forces behind his crime before being incarcerated for life.
By encouraging players to assume the role of multiple characters and experience the game from multiple viewpoints, Indigo Prophecy allows players' actions to affect the plot by offering a scenario-driven interactive experience -- each and every decision made by the player will impact how the in-game story unfolds. Through motion picture techniques such as actor direction, multi-camera views, motion tracking and a contextual music score, players find themselves intimately immersed in the game.
Developed by Quantic Dream and written by David Cage, Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit is rated "M" for Mature by the ESRB and was available in Europe on September 16 and will be available in North America after September 20 on the PlayStation 2, Xbox and Windows for a suggested retail price of $39.99.
