The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints

Which class should I choose?

  • 1 of 8: That depends on the style of combat that you prefer.
  • 2 of 8: As in many other games, you can basically be a fighter, a magic-user, or a thief.
  • 3 of 8: Each of those basic specializations has seven particular classes under it, some of which are essentially split classes. For instance, if you want to be a fighter/magic-user, you could choose a Battlemage from under the magic specialization.
  • 4 of 8: Read up on each of the 21 classes on pages 22 through 24 of the manual before you make your decision.
  • 5 of 8: Also make sure your chosen race's starting attributes and special abilities benefit your chosen class as much as possible. If you chose the wrong race, you'll have a chance to change it when Ergalla asks you to verify everything (which comes after you choose a birthsign).
  • 6 of 8: As for how to choose a class, you could have Ergalla ask you ten questions, and your responses determine what class you get (like in some of the old Ultima games). If you don't like it, you can always click on the "Back" button.
  • 7 of 8: You could also create your own class, giving it a name, description, and set of specs that can be different from all the classes built into the game. That's really cool, but isn't a very useful option for first-time players. It should only be used if you've played Morrowind before, or are an RPG veteran with very specific preferences (or want to use my special recommendations).
