The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints

I'm having trouble using the region maps to get places.

  • 1 of 5: That's not surprising considering how huge and complicated the game is, and how simplified and scaled-down the maps necessarily are.
  • 2 of 5: First of all, you need to understand that I divide up the island of Vvardenfell (which is the game world) differently from how the game does. It has funny-shaped regions that overlap and so on, and it's much easier to cut up the map into rectangular regions like they did in the old Might and Magic games.
  • 3 of 5: Also, due to copyright and file size considerations, I couldn't use screen captures from the game or scanned-in maps in this hint file. In my simple four-color maps, no terrain or elevation is drawn in on the land sections, which would be useful in figuring out how to get from location to location.
  • 4 of 5: The best way to use the maps is to locate a spot you know you can get to that's near where you're going, and then see what direction and approximately what distance your destination is from that spot. For example, on the Seyda Neen map you can see that location 2 is a short distance NW of location 1. So if you're at location 1 and want to go to location 2, then face NW and run along until you find what the map key tells you is at location 2.
  • 5 of 5: If you still have a lot of trouble finding something, then send me an e-mail at dunigase@yahoo.com and tell me the exact name and number (gotten from the region's map key) of the location you're trying to get to. Also tell me the name and number of the closest thing to your destination that you can find. I'll try to send you something that will help you get where you're going.
