The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints
Threads of the Webspinner Quest
of 21: This is a sort of big maxi-quest that you can perform for Eno Hlaalu, the Morag Tong Grandmaster and sign-up guy.
of 21: To start this quest, perform all of the Writ Quests and Hlaalu's Special Duties. You'll get several of the Sanguine items you need to collect for this quest while doing those.
of 21: When you have a Sanguine item in your inventory, it will show up as a conversation option when you talk to Hlaalu. For example, if you had the Belt of Sanguine Fleetness, then you'd have "Sanguine Fleetness" on the topic list. Choose it when you want to turn the item over.
of 21: There are a total of 27 Sanguine items that make up the Threads of the Webspinner. Hlaalu starts out with one of them (Sanguine Enterprise), leaving 26.
of 21: Note that there's an item in Barusi Venim's room in the Tower Living Quarters in Tel Aruhn called the Shortbow of Sanguine Sureflight, but it's not related to this quest despite its name, and therefore doesn't count toward the total.
of 21: One of the writ quest guys (Guril Retheran) had the Sanguine Horny Fist item, so there's now 25 to go.
of 21: During Hlaalu's special duties, you can obtain the items of:
of 21: That's 15 more, bringing the total down to 10. Getting these last Sanguine items isn't part of any quest, so I'll list each one below.
of 21: One of the easiest to get is in the fishing village of Khuul in the Gnisis region. The Sanguine Glib Speech item is on Shotherra, who's inside Thongar's Tradehouse. You'll have to kill her to get it, so let her catch you picking her pocket so she'll attack and your bounty will be small.
of 21: Another easy one to get is in the possession of Dro'Zaymar, who lives in Vivec in the St. Delyn Canal South - Three house. Just kill him to get the Sanguine Leaping shoes. No one will know.
of 21: Next, go to Sadrith Mora's Gateway Inn and find Gluronk gra-Shula on the second floor of the North Wing. Since she's alone, it's another straight kill-and-frisk routine to get the Sanguine Impaling Thrust belt.
of 21: Unfortunately, the other 7 Sanguine items are all in dungeons, some of which are very dangerous for undeveloped characters. The easiest one to deal with is the Ald Daedroth Shrine (location 10 on the Ald Daedroth map). There are two orcs named Gnaw Tooth and Domba inside, each of whom has a Sanguine item (Green Wisdom and Smiting). They're near the bottom of the first set of stairs in the Right Wing area, and should be killed by Temple Ordinators, making it easy to get their stuff.
of 21: You'll probably want to put the other 5 off until you're at least level 12 with really good equipment and skills. Invisibility potions and Chameleon spells could help in sneaking past tough enemies, too. And don't forget that you can use the Sanguine items that you've recovered so far; there's no hurry in turning them in.
of 21: Ebernanit is a very small shrine at location 27 on the Dagon Fel map. Small doesn't mean easy, though. Look for tough monsters both outside the shrine and inside. The mage Talis Veran is the one with the Sanguine Golden Wisdom ring.
of 21: The Sanguine Silver Wisdom item is in the Assurnabitashpi Shrine at location 2 on the Ald Redaynia map. As with all these ancient Daedric shrines, look for powerful monsters both inside and outside in the ruins area. As for which entrance to use, the eastern-most one is best, getting you to the giant statue room with Earmil (the guy with the goods) quickly.
of 21: You'll have to travel to the Ghostgate region for the next two. The Sanguine Stalking item is on Thovasi Alen in the small Assarnatamat Shrine (location 20 on the Ghostgate map).
of 21: After you get that one, travel through the Ghostgate and then north and west to the Ularradallaku Shrine (location 12 on the Dagoth Ur map). A guy named Inganar in the big statue room has the Sanguine Safekeeping glove.
of 21: Last one! Travel to the Indoranyon stronghold at location 30 on the Tel Mora map and enter. You'll notice that you don't end up in any kind of stronghold-looking area, and there's no exit door where you are. The only way out besides casting a teleportation spell is to make your way to the other end, where the exit door is.
of 21: In the starting cave, make your way along the winding stone pathways until you can jump to the ledge with the tunnel leading south. Make your way to the big statue room, then around the little tunnel loop to where you can hop along small ledges to a large cave to the south. Be sure to kill Erundil off to the right and get his Sanguine Unseen Wisdom ring before following the walkways to the exit.
of 21: Once you turn in all of the Sanguine items to Hlaalu, you'll get a new spell called Mephala's Skill. It's a cool combo spell including Chameleon, Fortify Attack, and Fortify Attack Shortblade. Its magicka cost is very low, and it never fails.
of 21: Oh, and you'll want to kill Hlaalu sometime to get all your neat Sanguine items back. See the quest about becoming the Grandmaster to find out when to do it.
