Myst III: Exile Hints
How do I open the force field blocking the way out of the room I arrived in?
of 22: Try to open the two spheres just in front of that force field.
of 22: In particular, pay attention to the sphere on the left -- once you open it, the controls inside the sphere appear to be on.
of 22: The controls are grouped into three circles, and within each circle are four sets of lights.
of 22: If you click on any segment in any of those lights, you can turn that segment on or off.
of 22: You obviously need to enter some sort of symbols on those lights -- think back to what you've seen and done to figure out what the symbols should be.
of 22: Remember why Atrus created all of the worlds you visited.
of 22: He was trying to teach his sons.
of 22: Each of the three ages that you visited had a specific lesson associated with it.
of 22: Re-read the notes you've collected to help you figure this out.
of 22: There are several phrases highlighted in Atrus's own journal.
of 22: And each phrase is four words long -- just like each circle on the sphere's controls has four sets of lights.
of 22: Also take a look at the banners on a nearby wall.
of 22: The banners show that certain words can be translated into symbols.
of 22: Try to figure out which symbols are associated with the words in each of Atrus's phrases.
of 22: But that's not the only place you've seen symbols like these.
of 22: Think back to what happened when you finished an age.
of 22: You copied down some sort of symbol.
of 22: Take a close look at the pieces of paper with those symbols -- they're still at the bottom of the screen.
of 22: Each of those sheets show two of the four "words" in one of Atrus's phrases.
of 22: Enter those symbols into the lights on the sphere -- one page of symbols per outer circle. (It doesn't appear to matter which phrase goes in which circle -- pick any of the three circles for any of the three sets of symbols.)
of 22: To finish each phrase, enter the symbols for the remaining two words. The placement of the first two words should tell you where the other two go. The first word in each phrase goes at the top of the circle. Put the remaining words in order going clockwise.
