Myst III: Exile Hints

How can I open the outer force field around the whole building?

  • 1 of 11: First, you need to open the first force field, which leads out to the gondola outside.
  • 2 of 11: Once you've gotten through that, go downstairs and look around.
  • 3 of 11: There are more banners with words and symbols here, like the ones upstairs.
  • 4 of 11: Remember that there was still one phrase in Atrus's journal that you couldn't translate.
  • 5 of 11: It said, "Balanced systems stimulate civilizations."
  • 6 of 11: But now that you have the symbols in this downstairs room, you can translate it.  (Some of the words in the phrase are translated downstairs, and some of them are upstairs.)
  • 7 of 11: And there was one sphere upstairs that you didn't use before.
  • 8 of 11: Go back upstairs and click on the switch in between the two spheres to make sure you can open the right sphere.
  • 9 of 11: Then enter the symbols for the final phrase onto the lights there.
  • 10 of 11: If you don't remember the proper order for the words, think back to how you entered them earlier.
  • 11 of 11: Enter the first word at the top and work clockwise from there.
