Help! I ticked someone off, and now they won't tell me what I need to know!

If this happens, don't worry.  As far as I know, there's no way to dig yourself into a hole you can't get out of.  Just go and work on something else for a while, then come back to the person.  You'll get what you need out of them eventually, or else there will be a way to solve the puzzle without their help.  Check these hints for the specifics of what to do in any given situation.
