General Hints
If some object you've picked up seems to have disappeared, remember to check whether it went into your files (click the F on the dial on the upper right).
Sometimes certain objects can only be viewed in close up from certain angles. So if you see an interesting object but can't zoom in on it, try moving somewhere else nearby and looking at it again.
At times you will need to use one object in your inventory with another.
There are many books in the game, some of which will contain important information. Whenever you see a bookcase, take some time to browse its contents. You don't necessarily have to read every book exhaustively, but you should at least read enough to get an idea of its subject matter.
Most of the objects in the game are found in logical places. Before you resort to pixel-hunting, think about where the objects you need would likely be kept.
It is a good idea to save every once in a while, even though the game provides an autosave feature. Although you can never lock yourself out of winning, if you miss something you might not be able to solve some of the optional puzzles.
The hints on the board games give strategies which might help winning the games against the computer AI. These strategies might not necessary work as well for playing the board games online.
