AGON Hints

How exactly do I set the gears?

  • 1 of 6: For each click of a gear, you raise or lower its bar by one notch.
  • 2 of 6: By counting the notches on each bar in the diagram, and counting the range of each gear, you should be able to determine which is which.
  • 3 of 6: You find that you should use the left setting for the plate, and the right setting for the outside gear.
  • 4 of 6: If the outside gear is set correctly, you will see evidence of this when you look in the keyhole. Then, if you also set the plate correctly, the view inside the keyhole will change again.
  • 5 of 6: Probably the easiest way to set the gears is first to drop each bar to its bottom position, so that the gear's teeth are in the top notch. Then turn the gear the appropriate number of times to put it in the correct position. The next hint gives specific instructions.
  • 6 of 6: Turn the outside gear all the way to the left (counterclockwise), then right four times. Turn the plate all the way to the left, then right once.
