How can I unlock the iron grate?
1 of 14: The lock consists of 10 dials in two rows. Five of them are preset and cannot be moved. You are to fill in the correct numbers by turning the other 5 movable dials.
2 of 14: This is a math puzzle that can be solved with simple addition.
3 of 14: Starting with the top row, the dials are "01 01 02 xx 05." The 4th dial is the only one you can move.
4 of 14: Adding up the first two numbers gives you the third.
5 of 14: In this case, 01+01=02.
6 of 14: Then, add the result and an unknown number for a total of 5.
7 of 14: Therefore, in this instance, the xx equals 03. (2+3=5) Set the 4th dial on the top row to 03.
8 of 14: Use the same method to solve the bottom row. The dials are "xx xx xx 34 xx," so this one is more difficult, but at least your choice of numbers is limited.
9 of 14: It may help to work this one backwards, since 34 is already set and you know that the 5th dial will be the total. Of your choices, what plus 34 equals what?
10 of 14: The sum of xx+34=55.
11 of 14: Set the 5th dial to 55 and the 3rd dial to 21.
