How do I get to the second floor?

1 of 7: You'd think you could just go from the attic down to the second floor, wouldn't you?
2 of 7: Well, you can't. Even after you get out of the attic, the door from the large circular staircase to the second floor is locked.
3 of 7:
Just head down to the first floor, and look for something to do there.
- I've gotten down to the first floor, but where do I go first?
4 of 7:
After you've unlocked your first door on that floor, you should be in the "smoking lounge."
- What am I supposed to do in the smoking lounge?
- I've gotten out of the smoking lounge. Where do I go next?
5 of 7: If you've followed all of the steps described in the previous questions, then you should have been sent up to the attic to meet Decerto.
6 of 7: Make your way back to the spiral staircase on the east side of the attic.
7 of 7: This time, the door from the spiral staircase to the second floor will be unlocked. Go through it.
