Alone in the Dark 4: The New Nightmare Hints
How do I kill the creature in the lightning chamber?
of 12: This creature will appear after you've started the lightning conductor for the first time.
of 12: Well, this creature has always been fairly immune to your weapons, but he seems to be completely immune this time.
of 12: I suggest just running around to see what happens.
of 12: Sometimes, he'll run after you, but sometimes he leaps into the air.
of 12: Maybe you could trick him into running into something dangerous.
of 12: Notice that if you put the dish in the center of the room between you and him, he'll jump directly over that dish.
of 12: And that dish is where the lightning strikes, when it strikes.
of 12: But the creature isn't stupid enough to jump through lightning -- you need to get him to jump into the lightning just as it's first hitting the dish.
of 12: The timing of the lightning is actually fairly predictable.
of 12: For me at least, strikes started every 11 seconds. That's counting just from the *start* of one strike to the start of the next. (This timing may vary depending on which platform you're on -- you may want to watch the clock to time this yourself.)
of 12: So I kept an eye on the clock and made sure that I was in the proper position (across the center of the room from the creature) when the lightning was about to strike. The creature would then jump into the lightning as it was striking.
of 12: It takes 3 hits to kill the creature, although you'll probably need more than 3 lightning strikes before you get those hits. You can always raise the conductor again if you don't kill the creature before the conductor lowers itself.
