Alone in the Dark 4: The New Nightmare Hints

How do I get into the room that's at the north end of the far eastern hallway?

  • 1 of 16: There are two doors into this room.
  • 2 of 16: You'll need to enter this room through the southern door, in the same hallway that leads to the Obed's office, and not through the door that's opposite the double doors into the library.
  • 3 of 16: Look for a key that's appropriately labeled, and use that to unlock the southern door.
  • 4 of 16: Try looking around in the office that's on the west side of the floor (the one with "HM" on the door).
  • 5 of 16: You won't find the key there, but you will find a big clue about how to get it.
  • 6 of 16: There's a photograph in the room that shows some sort of flask on a balance.
  • 7 of 16: See if you can figure out where the photograph was taken.
  • 8 of 16: It was taken in this same office -- look at the broken glass case.
  • 9 of 16: Of course, you now need to find the flask shown in the photo.
  • 10 of 16: Look in Obed's office.
  • 11 of 16: The flask is on a table along the wall that the cupboard is facing, in the corner between the cupboard and the desk.
  • 12 of 16: But the flask alone isn't going to even out the scales.
  • 13 of 16: You need to add a little weight to the flask.
  • 14 of 16: There's also an amphora filled with water in Obed's office
  • 15 of 16: Use the flask on that, and then go back to the West Office to use the filled flask on the balance in the broken case.  You'll hear a clicking sound and will be shown a picture of one of the portraits in the lobby.
  • 16 of 16: Go up to the second portrait on the left and use it to open it.  You'll find a Gilded Key inside, which will unlock the door at the north end of that hallway.
