Alone in the Dark 4: The New Nightmare Hints
How do I kill the flying lizard?
of 10: The creature is vulnerable to your ammunition ... sometimes.
of 10: It's just a matter of figuring out when that is.
of 10: You'll see a splash of blood and the lizard will fly back when you actually manage to hit it.
of 10: If you'd like to experiment yourself, I recommend using one of the smaller weapons, like the revolver, until you figure out the pattern. Not only will you save the more valuable ammunition, but you may also spend less time reloading, since the revolver holds the most rounds of any weapon.
of 10: Notice that when you shoot the lizard, it folds its wings in front of it to protect itself.
of 10: If you're having trouble getting the lizard to even fold its wings, I found that the best time to shoot was just when the lizard was flying in at me. If it's already attacking you, you may want to run around the balcony to force the lizard to fly toward you again.
of 10: But the lizard can't hide behind its wings all the time.
of 10: Just after you shoot it, the lizard will unfold its wings.
of 10: Shoot it again while it's still unfolding its wings, and you'll do some damage.
of 10: If you use the rocket launcher, you should be able to kill the lizard with 4 actual hits (8 shots counting the ones that the creature blocks). Just make sure to reload the weapon after each successful hit. Since the launcher only holds 3 rounds, you don't want to be forced to reload after the first (blocked) shot -- if you are, you probably won't have enough time to reload and get off a second shot that might actually do some damage.
