Anachronox Hints
Cheats
1 of 3: As always, be warned that cheating may spoil your fun and can cause the game to crash, or worse, may corrupt your game and create problems later on. Read ahead if you really want to know how to cheat.
2 of 3: First, you must enable cheat mode by editing the anoxdata\\CONFIGS\\Default.cfg file (in whichever folder you installed the game to, often C:\\Anachronox). There should be a line that reads set debug 0 -- change the "0" to a "1" (both "0" and "1" are numbers if you can't tell with the font you're using). This will now enable debug mode. You can bring up the game's console by pressing the "~" key, on the upper-left corner of your keyboard. Press it again to close the console.
Some useful commands are:
invoke 1:86 Shows a cheat menu with most options you'll need battlewin Win a battle (but don't use during opening camera shift) bind [key] [cmd] Attaches a command to whichever key you specify noclip Toggles "noclip" mode, so you can walk through walls timescale # Makes the game run at # times normal speed Your key bindings are included in your saves, so if you save after a bind command, you don't need to repeat that binding command, even if you quit and restore from that saved game. (Games saved before the binding are not affected, though.)
3 of 3: If you don't like having to use the console or want to get rid of all of the garbage that debug mode normally causes, here's a way to do it. First, make the change in your config file as described above and bring up the console with "~". Then type the following commands:
bind \\ invoke 1:86 bind [ set debug 1 bind ] set debug 0 Now, exit the console by pressing "~", save your game, and quit Anachronox. You can edit your config file again and change the line setdebug 1 back to set debug 0 to get rid of all that debugging text the next time you start.
But remember that the key bindings are saved with your savegames. So now, if you reload the game you just saved, you can press the "\\" key to bring up the cheat menu without ever having to go through the console. If you really want to use the console again, press "[" to start debug mode and "~" to enable the console. "~" will close it again and "]" stops the debugging text again. Of course, you can chose any other key bindings you prefer for these commands.
