Ankh Hints
Persuade the door to let me in.
of 21: This is a subtask to the "Find the Pharaoh's daughter" task. It starts when you try to use the stairs in the gate's mouth.
of 21: No matter what you say to the gate, it'll refuse to let you through.
of 21: So why not bash out its teeth and jaws with your baseball bat?
of 21: Well, that doesn't work. Maybe there's something around here that you can use.
of 21: The gate won't let you through even though it recognizes you because its memory is shot. Why not see if you can work on that?
of 21: Check out the rubble-y stone area just to the right of the gate.
of 21: Click on one of the interactive items that are partially covered by rubble to go over there and get a close-up view.
of 21: Remove the piece of rubble (which registers as a lid) from the control gadget by right-clicking on it.
of 21: Examine the various fuses and clamps in the control gadget.
of 21: Apparently, the fuse for the gate's memory (red clamp) is broken and lying on the ground.
of 21: So try pulling out all the other fuses to see if that'll deactivate the gate so you can get through.
of 21: Unfortunately, it doesn't. You'll have to try something else.
of 21: How about replacing the gate's memory fuse?
of 21: You can't repair the broken one, so try moving one of the other fuses to the red memory clamp.
of 21: The clamps that start out with working fuses are for the gate's seeing (blue clamp), hearing (green clamp), and thinking (yellow clamp).
of 21: Which of those don't you want the gate to be doing a lot of?
of 21: It needs to see and hear you, and it apparently needs its memory, so deprive it of its thinking fuse.
of 21: Grab the fuse from the yellow clamp's socket and use it in the red clamp's socket.
of 21: Then go talk to the door again.
of 21: You'll have to choose very specific dialogue topics to get it to cooperate, but you can always try again if you pick the wrong one.
of 21: Say that you want to be its friend and that you'd like to see its hinge collection. That'll do the trick!
