Arcania: Gothic 4 Hints

Possible Performance Boost

  • 1 of 4: It is possible that the game's performance settings are less than optimal for your computer. You can try editing the ProcessManager.xml file that's in the Data/configuration subdirectory under the game's install directory using Microsoft Notepad. (Note that if you're on Windows 7, you'll need to use Windows Explorer to copy the file to another directory, edit it there, then copy it back and provide administrator permission for overwriting it.)
  • 2 of 4: Find the line near the bottom of the file that reads <ThreadConfig platform="PC" cores="1" > and change the 1 to a 2 if you have a dual-core computer or 4 if you have a quad-core computer.
  • 3 of 4: Next, search for all the occurrences of memory-synchronized="false" and change the false to a true.
  • 4 of 4: Also search for all occurrences of thread-pool-bit=" and change the number in quote marks to a 1.
