Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura Hints
How can I convince the townsfolk to build the monument?
of 12: After you get the quest from the mayor, go into the town hall and walk up to the podium.
of 12: Be sure that you have at LEAST 10 Intelligence, or it will be impossible to complete the quest. You'll also need a rank or two of Persuasion. In general, just select the response that seems the most intelligent, and that will make it easiest for the town.
of 12: Higher Intelligence is better, and if you want to, you can go talk to the elven trader outside of one of the shops in town and buy a potion of intelligence from him.
of 12: If you do boost your Intelligence with a potion, in might be a good idea to buy a couple. It might run out in the middle of the speech. There's a break between answering every question, so if you're quick, you can use another potion then.
of 12: You'll be questioned by six different townsfolk about different aspects of the monument.
of 12: First they'll ask you why they should build it. Tell them that it's right and fitting that they honor their heroes.
of 12: Second they'll ask you about where they should build it. You can tell them to come to an agreement between the two sides, or if your Intelligence is higher, you can talk about "Hierarchal Design Principals" for a better reaction.
of 12: They'll then ask you how to pay for the project. Tell them that issuing municipal bonds will cover the cost. You need an Intelligence a bit higher than 10 to come up with this answer.
of 12: They'll then ask you how to get laborers for the project. Tell them that they should bid the project and sell it as they see fit to get the cheapest labor.
of 12: Next they'll ask what material to make it out of. Tell them that it will be made of metal, so as to last longer.
of 12: Next they'll ask you for an epitaph to put on the statue. Tell them, "Take an inch, and give a mile," or something like that.
of 12: If you did all the best responses, everyone in town will like you more, and you'll get a very nice reward from the mayor.
