Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura Hints

Erick Obsidian wants me to retrieve the Durin stone for him.

  • 1 of 25: This quest is pretty long and spans over a few areas.
  • 2 of 25: First you have to find the materials necessary to make the key.
  • 3 of 25: The materials you need are mithril ore, which can be bought from the dwarven smith in the Wheel Clan or found in the Dredge, and also a heartstone, which can be found a bit later in the game in the Bedokann village. You won't learn about the village until you accept a certain quest in Qintarra.
  • 4 of 25: Once you have both of the needed items, use the schematic Erick gave you to make a key.
  • 5 of 25: In your log, it will be labeled, "Key to the Iron Clan chest."
  • 6 of 25: The chest you're looking for is actually in Tarant.
  • 7 of 25: It's the iron chest in the zoological society. Go there and open the chest.
  • 8 of 25: Inside you'll find a map to the Place of Voices.
  • 9 of 25: You'll also find three drums, take them all.
  • 10 of 25: Go to the Place of Voices. Inside, through a long tunnel, you'll find a machine with three slots in it.
  • 11 of 25: Put the drums in the slot in this order:
  • 12 of 25: Book, Key, then Symbol.
  • 13 of 25: The voice will tell you to find the book of Durin's Truth.
  • 14 of 25: The book is located in Caladon, in the Misk residence.
  • 15 of 25: The Misk residence is the house just south of the graveyard.
  • 16 of 25: The book is in a locked display case. You can either pick it or steal the key from Widow Misk.
  • 17 of 25: Once you read it, you'll find a map to the entrance of the Iron Clan.
  • 18 of 25: If you go there, you'll find that there's no way for you to get in. You need a key of some kind.
  • 19 of 25: The key you need is the glass object in the First Panarii Temple, near Hadrian.
  • 20 of 25: To get it, you have to investigate the remains of Nasrudin and then solve the mystery of Saint Mannox.
  • 21 of 25: Once you have the key, go back to the Iron Clan entrance, and use the glass pillar.
  • 22 of 25: The door will open and you can go in. Inside, you'll have to fight a bunch of automatons, which can be pretty tough in groups, but you'll just have to deal with them.
  • 23 of 25: Eventually, you'll come to a bunch of columns that you can open like containers.
  • 24 of 25: Inside them, you'll find an Iron Clan Hammer, a suit of Iron Clan Armor, and the Durin Stone.
  • 25 of 25: Bring the stone back to Erick to (finally) complete the quest.
