Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura Hints
Can I help solve the murders around town?
of 20: If you want to help solve them, talk to one of the guards by one of the murder sites, and ask if you can help.
of 20: Then go talk to Chief Inspector Henderson in the police station, and ask him if you can help.
of 20: He'll be more than happy to oblige and will give you some murder site locations.
of 20: Go to them, and you'll find the dead bodies.
of 20: If you have the spell, you can raise the victim's spirits, and they'll tell you they were killed by "L'Anamelach." If you can't cast the spell, go to the third murder site, and you'll find it written in blood on the walls.
of 20: Once you know about it, go back to the Inspector, and tell him about L'Anamelach. He'll tell you that L'Anamelach is an ancient demon and that you should go talk to the demonologist in Tarant.
of 20: So go there, and talk to the demonologist in the building with all the other scientists in University Court.
of 20: He'll give you the background history and will let you know about the Blade of Xerxes, which you'll need to kill the demon properly.
of 20: So when you're ready, go to the pit of fires.
of 20: Outside, you'll find another group of adventurers. If you want, you can talk to them, and if you greatly exaggerate the demons' powers, they'll go in and get the blade for you.
of 20: If you don't do that, just go into the dungeon. There are a lot of Fire Elementals and Seething Masses, but by now, they shouldn't be too hard.
of 20: The blade is in one of the lava bowl containers, which will damage you a bit when you open it.
of 20: Once you have the blade, head back to the Chief Inspector in Caladon, and tell him everything.
of 20: He'll then give you access to the closed sewers where the elf possessed by the demon (Vincent) is hiding.
of 20: So go north from the Police station and into the small building with the entrance to the sewers.
of 20: The old sewers are small, so just follow the passage and you'll find Vincent.
of 20: Have the blade of Xerxes equipped, and have all your companions wait.
of 20: Then just go up to Vincent and attack him. He'll become hostile, but as long as you only attack him with the Blade, he won't become a demon.
of 20: If he does become a demon, he's pretty nasty, but if you get your whole group together, you should be able to kill him. You will mess up the quest, however.
of 20: Either way, once he's dead, go back to the Chief Inspector for your reward.
