Arx Fatalis Hints

What is a chicken doing inside the Crypt?

  • 1 of 10: Have you read any books about chickens?
  • 2 of 10: In Oliver's room on Level 4, you'll find a book about a man and his obsession with chickens. The ultimate goal of his research was to become a chicken himself. Could it be that you've found this fabled Werechicken?
  • 3 of 10: To find out, you'll need a way to reveal the chicken's true form.
  • 4 of 10: Casting the Reveal spell will reveal a man trapped inside a chicken's body. Now that you've discovered the Werechicken, you'll have to find a way to change him back into a man.
  • 5 of 10: Don't bother searching for any clues: none exist in the game. This quest is a pure easter egg. However, before you can complete it, you must cast Reveal on the chicken as above.
  • 6 of 10: Collect a leek, a carrot, a dragon egg, and a bottle of water and take them to the Yellow Tulip tavern.
  • 7 of 10: Leeks and carrots can be purchased from Maria's shop in the City of Arx, stolen from the Castle kitchens, or harvested from the garden beside the Guard Fortress. For the dragon egg, you will need to kill the Ice Dragon and steal the eggs from her cave.
  • 8 of 10: Use the ingredients and then the bottle of water on the cauldron behind Tizzy's bar to create a strange potion. Note that going behind the bar to reach the cauldron may cause the denizens of the Tavern to attack. To avoid this, use the Telekinesis spell.
  • 9 of 10: Now return to the Werechicken and use the elixir on him in his human shape. He will be very grateful, and reward you with 20,000 points of experience.
  • 10 of 10: Talk to the man again, and he will explode, leaving behind one of the two best weapons in the game: either a Giant Sword or a Magic Bow.
