Arx Fatalis Hints
Gameplay Issues/Bugs
1 of 6: Arx Fatalis gives you a great deal of freedom, allowing you to deviate from the main plot, even killing all the NPCs, without ruining your chances of finishing the game. Provided you are playing with the latest patch installed, your adventure through Arx should be relatively bug-free. At the time of this writing, the most recent patch is version 1.15 and is available at Arkane Studios' official site. However, there are a few situations which bear mentioning in this section:
2 of 6: At the very beginning of the game, you'll meet a prisoner named Kultar. To avoid a potential bug later on in the game, don't attack him.
3 of 6: You'll find a locked door in the tavern which requires a password to open. With sufficient Technical Skill, you can pick the lock on this door, but be aware that opening the door before you've learned the password can trigger a bug preventing you from finishing the game.
4 of 6: At one point in the game, you will need to enter the sewers beneath the castle. Make sure you save before doing this, as it's possible to get stuck in the sewer with no escape.
5 of 6: On rare occasions, you may find your path blocked by an NPC who refuses to budge. You may be unwilling to kill the offender; in this case, reloading a saved game will sometimes cause the NPC to get out of your way. If all else fails, there is a cheat which can help.
6 of 6: Finally, be careful when using cheats in the game, as they can have unexpected side effects.
