Co-operations and Branches
These two go hand in hand as the only reason you co-operate with your opponents is to get access to their branches (and they to yours). At the beginning of the game, talk to all your opponents and co-operate with them. This will enable you with a large pool of flights to use. But still bid for branches in case you have a falling out with one of your opponents and lose your communication with their branches.
