Game Triggers
This game has several "trigger" actions that must be completed before the game will progress. The most common type of trigger is dialogue. Therefore, whenever there are main characters nearby -- especially when the game doesn't seem to be progressing -- make sure you have exhausted all dialogue options available. (Minor characters are normally not triggers.) Keep in mind that you may need to return to some characters, after other tasks have been completed, and explore new dialogue options.
Other times, the trigger might be as simple as looking at an interesting object. Or reaching a specific safe area without being caught by the guardians. The triggers for your situation will be covered in specific hints.
