How do I associate a particular plate with a particular mirror?
1 of 12: Have you noticed that each plate has a round purplish globe near the top of it?
2 of 12: Click on the round globe at the top of any of the four plates (in close-up mode). What happens?
3 of 12: You should hear a sound -- which is different for each of the four plates.
4 of 12: Have you closely examined each of the mirrors?
5 of 12: When you click on the mirrors, you will also hear a sound -- which is different for each of the four mirrors.
6 of 12: The sounds produced by the four mirrors are the same as the sounds produced by the globes above the four plates.
7 of 12: Just match the sound between the mirrors and the apparatuses on the table to get a one-to-one association between the mirrors and the apparatuses.
8 of 12: If you're having an audio problem (i.e., can't hear the sounds), the answer to the "matches" is at the end of this hint. If you're having trouble matching the sounds, the easiest way is to work on just one at a time.
9 of 12: Select one of the mirrors, and click on it to hear the sound. Try to create an "image" in your mind of what the sound reminds you of. Click several times in a row, so that the sound is "embedded" in your memory.
10 of 12: Now go to a close-up view of the four plates, and click each of the round globes in turn, until you find one that sounds the same.
11 of 12: If the problem is "sound memory" (i.e., inability to remember a sound after another sound has been played -- not at all unusual), you may have to go from the mirror to the first plate, then back to the mirror (for a "refresher") and on to the second plate, and so on. The answer to the mirror-plate associations is in the following hint.
12 of 12: Stand in the middle of the room, facing the door through which you entered. The mirror on your left relates to the purple plate. The mirror on your right relates to the gold plate. Now turn 180-degrees around, so that you are facing the far door (which you cannot yet open). The mirror on your left relates to the green plate; and the final mirror relates to the pink plate.
