What can I learn from the journal?
1 of 6: The left of the page tells you how to place the tuning forks for a pipe pattern as illustrated on the right side of the page.
2 of 6: Notice two things in particular. First, make note of the circular pattern drawn around the circumference of the plate (in the diagram).
3 of 6: The circular pattern goes from narrow to wide around the plate.
4 of 6: Next look at the triangle. The triangle drawn on the right side of the page (over the four pipes) also goes from narrow to wide.
5 of 6: In the diagram, the pipe hanging under the narrow edge of the triangle (the far left side) is the longest of the four. The tuning fork positioned at the narrow edge of the circular pattern (at the top of the plate) has four lines over it.
6 of 6: Working around the plate clockwise, from the narrowest part of the pattern to the widest, the number of lines over each fork corresponds to the length of each pipe, from left to right (which is also from narrowest to the widest parts of the triangle).
