Aura: Fate of the Ages Hints
What do I do with the column of dials near the sunken bridge?
of 11: The first thing to note is that the wheel at the top rotates the column of dials. Clicking on the left side rotates the column to the left. Clicking on the right side rotates the column to the right.
of 11: If you rotate the column, you will find that there are four sides, with four dials on each side. On each side except the first, all of the dials can be rotated. On the first side, the top dial cannot be changed.
of 11: There is an additional clue that will help you determine the relationship of all of the shapes.
of 11: As you were climbing the ladder to the rooftop, you should have noticed several glyphs painted on one of the walls just behind the ladder.
of 11: In fact, there are 4 shapes, each consisting of two matching pieces. And all of the pieces are essentially the same as the shapes on the dials.
of 11: Start with the fixed dial at the top of the first column. Since this dial cannot be changed, that one must be the starting point.
of 11: Each dial must be set so that all adjacent sides match up with their counterparts in the hint diagram.
of 11: As you set each dial, also realize that the shapes at the left and right sides of each dial must "pair up" with their counterparts on the two adjacent columns -- one to the left, and one to the right.
of 11: It is helpful for this puzzle to draw out all the options for all sixteen dials onto a piece of paper, keeping the positions of the dials the same as on the puzzle. Then solve the puzzle on paper and just transfer the solution to the column.
of 11: Using the fixed dial as a base, continue rotating dials on the first column, as well as the other twelve dials on the other three sides of the column, until all points where two neighboring dials (either vertically or horizontally) form matching pairs, based on the hint diagram.
