Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened Hints
General Tips
1 of 8: These hints are organized around the major locations that Holmes and Watson visit during the game. Within the major location sections, the hints are divided up into tasks, and each task has a list of questions that covers everything you need to do for that task.
2 of 8: The hints won't mention every single item that you can find, since many of them are optional. Usually, only items that are essential to progressing on your investigation will be mentioned. If you find something important-looking that the hints don't ever refer to, it won't really be useful, and you don't need to worry about it.
3 of 8: Since this is a Sherlock Holmes game, there's a major emphasis on finding and analyzing clues. Some clues are very hard to spot at a casual glance, so it's always important to carefully look around all available areas for hotspots. Remember that the action cursor for a hotspot usually won't appear unless you're close to it and looking straight at it.
5 of 8: Evidence gathering is the most important thing you'll be doing, but you also occasionally need to talk to someone to learn something important, and there are a few adventure-game-type puzzles scattered throughout, just to keep you on your toes.
6 of 8: Many clues and conversations will add entries to various pages of your portfolio notebook. Check it frequently for information, especially when Holmes asks you a quiz question. When he does, you can't move on with the game until you answer it correctly. (And they're not multiple choice!)
7 of 8: You can sometimes skip the current portion of a dialogue by pressing SPACEBAR, or the rest of the conversation by pressing ESC. However, many conversations are immune to one or both of those keys.
8 of 8: There are many reasons to save frequently, including the fact that the game will sometimes crash. For me, that only happened on rare occasions while trying to fast-travel somewhere using the game's travel map. To be safe, always save right before fast-traveling, especially if you haven't saved recently.
