SPOILER: Exact solution from starting configuration.
1 of 12: In this solution, I mentally number the rows from 1 (top row) down to 5 (bottom row). That means all of the number pieces start out on row 3.
2 of 12: Start by moving the 9 piece to row 5.
3 of 12: Move the 3 piece to row 1.
4 of 12: Move the 7 and 8 pieces to row 4.
5 of 12: Move the 9 piece from row 5 to row 4, and then move the 1 piece down to row 5.
6 of 12: Move the 5 piece to row 2.
7 of 12: Move the 10 piece to row 4, and the 4 piece to row 2.
8 of 12: Move the 3 and 2 pieces to row 2.
9 of 12: Now you can move the 6 piece up to row 1, and finally get the 1 piece into place on row 3.
10 of 12: After that, it's easy to move the 2 thru 6 pieces onto row 3.
11 of 12: Then move the 10 piece to row 5, the 9 piece to row 2, and the 8 piece to row 1.
12 of 12: Now it's easy to get the 7 thru 10 pieces put on row 3 to form the correct numeric sequence.
