Fish Scale
1 of 6: The microscope might reveal something interesting about this item.
2 of 6: Click on the fish scale in inventory, then close inventory and click the gear icon on the microscope.
3 of 6: That'll get you a close-up of the scale as seen through the microscope, plus a small set of tools in the bottom left corner of the screen.
4 of 6: Try using each tool on the scale.
5 of 6: Using the tweezers will pull off a piece, which Holmes will identify using one of the books he got from the bookstore earlier.
6 of 6: After you get the "Fish Scale" report, you're through with the scales, so right-click to leave the microscope view.
