Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened Hints

How can I make an accurate copy of the engraving?

  • 1 of 11: Holmes doesn't want to trust his hand at copying the complex engraving, so you'll need to find a more accurate way to copy it.
  • 2 of 11: You don't have a camera, so you'll need to make a rubbing.
  • 3 of 11: To do that, you'll need a piece of paper and some chalk, a crayon, or something like that.
  • 4 of 11: The paper you need can be found by searching the small pile of clothing that's on the floor near the bottom of the steps that lead up to the altar. (You may have already gotten it if you previously searched the floor near the altar steps.)
  • 5 of 11: As for the marking device, there isn't any chalk or crayons around.
  • 6 of 11: You'll have to make do with a lump of coal.
  • 7 of 11: If you turn right as you're entering the "temple" area through its entry door, you'll find a stack of straw mattresses in the nearby corner.
  • 8 of 11: Look on the floor next to that stack.
  • 9 of 11: You can get some coal from the small box that's setting there.
  • 10 of 11: Return to the altar area and use the paper and then the coal with either of the two engravings (they're identical) to make a rubbing.
  • 11 of 11: Click on the rubbing to take it and put it in your inventory.
