Barrow Hill: Curse of the Ancient Circle Hints

How can I open the briefcase in room 3?

  • 1 of 17: Have you gotten a close-up of it and tried clicking on its six tumblers?
  • 2 of 17: A six-digit combination is nothing to guess at. Look around for a clue as to what the combo might be.
  • 3 of 17: A big clue is in the waste basket.
  • 4 of 17: To find the waste basket, stand next to the bed and face the head of the bed (so that you can see the pillows and the five drawings on the wall).
  • 5 of 17: Click the Zoom In cursor near the bottom of the screen (not on the paper under the pillow), then click again on the waste basket for a close-up of it.
  • 6 of 17: Click on the scraps of paper in the waste basket to bring up a simple torn-paper jigsaw puzzle.
  • 7 of 17: Assemble it to get a note that Conrad Morse wrote to himself in order to remember the combo.
  • 8 of 17: It says, "My briefcase combination code is now reset. I've used a solution that can be found on my jeep's number plate."
  • 9 of 17: Go visit the jeep crash site at the far east end of the main road and check out its license plate.
  • 10 of 17: It has two parts: 4X and 68578.
  • 11 of 17: That's six digits if you ignore the X, but entering 468578 on the briefcase's tumblers doesn't work.
  • 12 of 17: So don't ignore the X.
  • 13 of 17: What if Morse decided to use the X like a multiplication symbol?
  • 14 of 17: If you multiply 4 by 68,578, the product is 274,312.
  • 15 of 17: That's also six digits, so try entering that on the briefcase's tumblers.
  • 16 of 17: It works! As soon as the six tumblers are set to 274312, the briefcase will open.
  • 17 of 17: NOTE: It'll close again and reset when you move away, so if you want to open it again later, you'll have to enter the same combo.
