Barrow Hill: Curse of the Ancient Circle Hints
General Gameplay Tips
1 of 7: This is yet another adventure game in the style of good old Myst.
2 of 7: As in most other Myst-like games, the major emphasis is on exploration and contextual puzzle-solving. There's very little in the way of interaction with other characters, timed or action sequences, etc.
3 of 7: You get around by clicking the cursor on certain spots of the current screen to move forward. If you can't move forward, see if you can turn left or right (or zoom out if you're zoomed in on something).
4 of 7: It pays to thoroughly explore every spot in the game that you can reach. Turn every direction you can, zoom in on everything that you can, etc. Besides all the essential stuff you need to take and use, you'll also find lots of minor clues and neat environmental imagery that won't be mentioned in this hint file.
5 of 7: Also note that this game is much more inventory-intensive than many Myst clones. Instead of there being just a few of a certain type of item that you can pick up, there are many different items that are used in many different places.
6 of 7: See the Inventory Items section for a list of all the items you can put into your inventory. Just looking over the list can be useful, since you can then know what items you haven't found yet.
7 of 7: As you explore, scan carefully for anything that shows the Use Inventory Item cursor (the hand holding a wrench). You'll probably find several such things before you have the items you need to use on them, so note them down. Once you have the right item, click on it in inventory while standing next to the thing to use it with. (You never click and drag inventory items.)
