How do I crack the code?
1 of 10: Finster's real phone number on his stationary is CMR-140, so you are looking for a six digit telephone number.
2 of 10: His encryption code on the Black List is CLV 21-84-11.
3 of 10: Look at the phone dial and Walt Pensky's notes. CLV translates to 258 on the phone dial. Notice the checkmark in Pensky's notes: 0+1-1
4 of 10: 2 + 0 (zero) = 2; 5 + 1 = 6; and 8 - 1 = 7. Thus 267 is the first part of Finster's number.
5 of 10: Notice that Walt tried adding the numbers together. In looking at the number 140 and the remaining numbers in the code, see that he should have subtracted them.
6 of 10: 2 -1 = 1; 8 - 4 = 4; 1 - 1 = 0 for the number 140.
7 of 10: Now look at Dr. Karl Strauss' encrypted number: CLV 51-22-40. Use the above formula to get his six digit telephone number.
8 of 10: CLV is the same as Finster's, so you know the first 3 digits are 267.
9 of 10: To get the last 3 digits, follow this formula: 5 - 1; 2 - 2; 4 - 0.
