Black Dahlia Hints

Helpful Tips

  • Here are some tips which may make playing Black Dahlia easier or more enjoyable for you:

    1)  New locations appear in your World Map after a place is mentioned during conversations, or if you read an address on a note or inventory item.

    2)  Look in your inventory often and examine every item very carefully.  Many items can be manipulated (turned around, opened up, etc.) which cause other events to occur or new items to be found.  Some of the puzzles ~must~ be solved while within the inventory window.

    3)  Check your notebook to see what notes Jim has made.  Verify, for instance, that he copied symbols correctly in his notebook.  You can type in your own notes there, but it's best to take notes on real paper and let Jim use his notebook for game notes.

    4)  Keep your boss advised of your progress.  As you find new leads, check in.  He has a wealth of information which can help you move on.

    5)  Press F1 for help at any time during the game.  This is especially helpful while trying to solve a puzzle.

    6)  SAVE, SAVE, SAVE.  You can die in this game.

    7)  Take lots of notes.  Sketch anything you think might be important later.

    8)  Many players have experienced lock-ups and corruption of game files if any applications are open in addition to the game.  If you use Windows95, do NOT multitask.  Disable any anti-virus or other scheduled tasks that might kick in while you are playing the game.  Do not ignore this precautionary measure!

    9)  Screen shots can not be pasted directly from within the game to the clipboard or to any other graphics editor.  Instead, look on the game CDs and in the BDAHLIA game directory on your hard drive for files with the PCX extension.

    10)  If you are experiencing trouble playing Black Dahlia, download the patch which Take 2 Interactive released.  Look for it on either of the following web pages, or in the GAMERS Forum on Compuserve.
