Beyond Time Hints

How do I solve the puzzle?

  • 1 of 17: First, you have to find it.
  • 2 of 17: Look at the farthest end of the hallways, just off the big room with the large pillars.
  • 3 of 17: In the tea room, look carefully around the entire room.
  • 4 of 17: Read the book lying on the table.
  • 5 of 17: The Mandala puzzle is hanging on the wall.
  • 6 of 17: It is similar in concept to the Snake Puzzle found in the Priestess' Chamber.
  • 7 of 17: The book tells you that the sum of each lobe is "in perfect harmony".
  • 8 of 17: The "Eighteen Pure Lands of Compassion" are "equal in strength".
  • 9 of 17: The goal is to create pairs whose totals are equal, while also making the sum of the three numbers in any lobe be the same.
  • 10 of 17: The first step is to calculate what those two numbers are (i.e., the sum of each pair, and the sum of the three numbers in any lobe).
  • 11 of 17: Use the numbers shown in the puzzle to determine nine pairs, and six sets of three.
  • 12 of 17: Each pair must total 20; the numbers in each lobe must add up to 30.
  • 13 of 17: As in the Snake Puzzle, there are many correct answers (114, to be exact); but only one will be accepted by the program.
  • 14 of 17: Experiment; try different combinations that follow the rules for the puzzle.
  • 15 of 17: The next two hints provide parts of the answer.  Try them one at a time, and see if you can derive the correct answer before moving to the next clue.
  • 16 of 17: The top lobe contains the numbers 8, 18, and 4 (reading left to right).
  • 17 of 17: The bottom lobe contains the numbers 7, 9, and 14 (again reading left to right).
