How can I solve the "Skinner Murders"?

  • 1 of 16: The inspector at the main gate tells you about a series of brutal murders in the district.  He says that there was a witness to the most recent one and that you might find the witness in the Merchant Center.
  • 2 of 16: You can find the witness to the right of the merchants' stands.
  • 3 of 16: If you ask her about the murders, she tells you she smelled one of three things.
  • 4 of 16: But she's not sure which, and she needs a sample to tell.
  • 5 of 16: So ask the shopkeeper to the left about the things and he'll give you all of them.
  • 6 of 16: Once you have them, you can give them to the witness, and she'll tell you that the smell she recognized was tannin.
  • 7 of 16: Hmmm, she also says tannin is used in making leather.
  • 8 of 16: Who might be using leather in this district?
  • 9 of 16: The tanner, obviously.
  • 10 of 16: Go to the tanner's shop and interrogate him.
  • 11 of 16: He's not very forthcoming -- how do big bad adventurers deal with uncooperative people?
  • 12 of 16: They hit them!  Attack the tanner and he'll run downstairs.
  • 13 of 16: Follow him, and make sure to disarm all the traps on the floor and containers.
  • 14 of 16: There must be SOME evidence in this room.
  • 15 of 16: Move over to the upper leftmost bed and search it -- you'll find the evidence you need.
  • 16 of 16: Bring it back to the inspector and you'll get some money and a lot of XP.
