How do I gain the services of an artist for my temple?
  • 1 of 18: Note: If you're not a priest, you will get this quest from the Temple of Helm.
  • 2 of 18: The artist can be found in an estate in the Government District.
  • 3 of 18: Talk to him.  He'll tell you to get Illithium ore for him and mentions that an ore merchant in the Promenade may have some.
  • 4 of 18: Go there during the day, and she'll be there.
  • 5 of 18: Ask her about Illithium.
  • 6 of 18: You can try to use the fake ore, but the artist won't fall for it.
  • 7 of 18: Ask her about her "contact."
  • 8 of 18: Go to the slums and to the Copper Coronet.  Her contact, Unther Hilldark, is sitting in a corner.
  • 9 of 18: Talk to him, and ask him about Illithium.  He'll tell you all his Ore was stolen by a dwarf named Neb.  (Remember him, all you BG1 players?)
  • 10 of 18: Go to the Bridge District and enter the Derelicit House.
  • 11 of 18: When you enter you'll talk with Neb, the child-murdering dwarf.
  • 12 of 18: He will summon up four "child spirits" to attack you.  They are like slightly stronger vampiric mists.
  • 13 of 18: So Negative Plane Protection is useful here.
  • 14 of 18: While you're fighting them, Neb will become invisible.
  • 15 of 18: You can either cast an area effect spell on the area you see his laughing coming from, or cast Detect Invisibility and kill him.
  • 16 of 18: You can then take the Illithium and Neb's head.
  • 17 of 18: Bring the Illithium back to the artist to get the commission for your temple.
  • 18 of 18: NOTE: You can also take the Illithium and the Mace of Disruption +1 to Cromwell the Dwarf to get a Mace of Disruption +2, your choice.
