Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal Hints
How do I find out who betrayed the city?
of 18: When you go into the militia headquarters, you'll be greeted with a scene of a man being condemned by a countess and a merchant.
of 18: After they're done talking, talk to the captain, and get permission to see the accused man, Mateo.
of 18: Once you can, go down through the passage the captain opened, and tell the guard he told you to talk to the prisoner.
of 18: Talking to the prisoner only gets you a little information -- he tells you that the merchant Kiser or the countess is a good place to start.
of 18: The countess has very little useful information, other than that her son has been kidnapped.
of 18: The merchant Kiser is a different story. He admits that he kidnapped the countess's son, but he accuses a mage who mans the city gates of being the traitor.
of 18: Don't go kill the mage -- it's a false accusation. Instead, go into Kiser's basement and snoop around.
of 18: Get stuff from the containers, especially the special ore (useful later).
of 18: If you go through the door where the two guards are stationed, you'll find a secret door that cannot be opened.
of 18: Look for traps in that room.
of 18: You'll find one, and it will say that you found a switch behind the trap.
of 18: Find two more traps, one at each corner of the basement, and disarm them all.
of 18: Once you've disarmed all three, the door will open, and Kiser will come and attack you.
of 18: Don't worry, he's the guilty one anyways.
of 18: Kill him and everyone else who attacks you. Kiser has a very cool figurine, which makes mages, clerics, or thieves into very powerful fighters for a while.
of 18: He also has a key on him, but I'm not totally sure what it does.
of 18: Once you kill him, go through the secret passage, kill a nasty mage, and find Ardic.
of 18: After you free Ardic, go talk to the countess to get a 2000 gold reward.
