Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal Hints
The Imprisoned One is in my head! What do I do?
of 17: Well, you actually might want to listen to what he's telling you.
of 17: You have been somewhat bamboozled.
of 17: Whatever you do, DON'T read the ritual. It will seal the Imprisoned One, but it will seal you inside too. You will then have to make a deal with the Imprisoned One -- he will let you out, and you will get the Knights to come down to him.
of 17: If you do this, you will get two options. One, you are given a scroll which can seal the Knights and the Imprisoned One in the Keep.
of 17: Two, you can go help them, which comes to the same thing as doing the other option you had before you read the ritual.
of 17: The other option is simply to demand that The Imprisoned One show itself.
of 17: Once you do that, The Imprisoned One will reveal itself as Demogorgon, prince of demons.
of 17: Obviously, you'll have to fight him.
of 17: This fight is tough, really tough. As a matter of fact, it's the toughest you'll be facing in the game.
of 17: To start, Demogorgon summons "The Infernal Host," two Mariliths. What makes them annoying is that they're immune to non-magical weapons, and they immediately cast protection from magical weapons as soon as they arrive.
of 17: If you want to be able to hit them, cast Breach, or Pierce Shield, or something like that on both of them, and your fighters will be able to hit them.
of 17: Demogorgon will constantly be summoning demons to help him out, so you might want to delegate 3 of your party members to attacking him, and the other 3 to holding off his minions. (This strategy works well in all battles where you have to fight a big baddy and a bunch of other creatures.)
of 17: Demogorgon constantly causes nasty debilitating status ailments with his hits, like confusion and things like that, so it's useful to have any fighters on him using stuff that makes them immune to mind-effecting spells.
of 17: Finally, it's also not a bad time to have your main character turn into The Slayer, nasty demon against nasty demon, and all.
of 17: Demogorgon has high magic resistance, so you'll want to cast a Lower Resistance on him (or two) before trying any powerful offensive spells.
of 17: Once he goes down, leave through the portal up the stairs, and go talk to the Knight's of the Vigil to get the full story, and complete your quest (unless you already lured them down to fight Demogorgon, in which case only their leader remains alive). You can kill them if you want, but there's really not much in it for you.
of 17: Congratulations! You've beaten The Watcher's Keep. Good job!
