Trap Bolt Tips
of 14: Trap bolts are electrified wires that are set across a path that an enemy or looter (like yourself) might take to get to something valuable.
of 14: You can disable a trap bolt by running into it and letting it zap you, but that'll cost you a large chunk of health.
of 14: Keeping the Vita-Chamber Tips in mind, you could just make suicidal runs through areas filled with trap bolts until they're all gone, but there are other ways.
of 14: Carefully examine a trap bolt to see where it's connected.
of 14: On one end of the wire will be the bolt (a dart-like gadget).
of 14: You can shoot the bolt out with a gun, such as the pistol, or you can short out the wire by hitting the bolt with the Electro Bolt plasmid.
of 14: If you have the Telekinesis plasmid handy, you could use it to pull the bolt out of whatever it's stuck into.
of 14: You could then throw the bolt away to hopefully defuse the wire, but it might just get stuck another way and still be live.
of 14: It's best to stand near the bolt when using Telekinesis on it, then just drop it gently (with the Hack key) after you pull it toward you. That should deactivate the wire without causing you any damage. (If not, try whacking the bolt with the wrench or picking it up and throwing it at the spot where the other end of the wire is attached.)
of 14: Another way to use Telekinesis to deactivate trap bolts is to pick up an item and throw it through the wire. Corpses work really well for this.
of 14: Better than throwing corpses is carrying them along and waving them around in front of you to hit and disable the wires. If you drop the corpse gently afterward instead of throwing it, the entire operation will take very little EVE.
of 14: Also, you could lure enemies into stupidly running into the trap bolts and electrocuting themselves. If an enemy is on the same side of a trap bolt as you are, try jumping over it or crouch-walking under it.
of 14: If you have the Electric Flesh Combat Tonic, you'll take far less damage from trap bolts. If you have Electric Flesh 2, you'll take no damage from them at all, and can run through them without getting hurt.
of 14: When you get the crossbow weapon, you'll be able to find and make trap bolt ammo for it so that you can set up your own trap bolts to use against enemies (such as bouncer-style big daddies). Just remember that your trap bolts will zap you if you touch the wire -- they won't "recognize" you like prox mines you set will.
