Bioshock Hints

Hard Difficulty Note

  • 1 of 6: If you're playing on the highest difficulty setting, a full 200 units of electric gel will *barely* be enough if you have both Electric Flesh and Electric Flesh 2 spliced in. Read on if you're short on tonics and/or ammo.
  • 2 of 6: You're going to have to knock down a lot of his health by other means while fighting one of his forms, but don't wait to do that with the last form -- it'll be the hardest due to all the splicers who are attacking you, too.
  • 3 of 6: So fry Fontaine entirely with gel in his fire form, then use napalm or the machine gun's antipersonnel rounds to do most of the damage when he's in frost form. It'll be much slower going, so remember to dodge and use first aid kits (and/or the health station) a lot.
  • 4 of 6: Hopefully, you'll have saved enough gel to quickly fry him when he's in his electrical form, and that'll be the end of it.
  • 5 of 6: It should be easier to survive the frost-form battle if you first use the Gene Bank machine to equip the following tonics:

Sportboost and Sportboost 2  (to help you move faster)
Armored Shell and Armored Shell 2  (to help you resist the damage when Fontaine charges and hits you)
Frozen Field and Frozen Field 2  (to help you resist Fontaine's frost attacks)
Medical Expert, Medical Expert 2, and Medical Expert 3  (so you can get *lots* of health from each first aid kit you use)
  • 6 of 6: As an alternative, equip all of the wrench-boosting tonics (including the two Frozen Field tonics) and use the wrench against his fire form. Freeze him with liquid nitro, wrench-bash him until he defrosts, then repeat the process. The main problem with this is that he'll be right next to you when he defrosts, and will be able to attack you before you can switch back to the chemical thrower. A full load of first aid kits can help you make it through this if you want to try it.
