How can I tell when the bees are about to become active again?
1 of 5: There are two different ways to tell -- one visual, and one audio.
2 of 5: There are some lights on the north and south walls of the hive area that will flicker on when the smoker is activated.
3 of 5: As soon as they glow a steady green, it's safe to enter the hive area. Also, a ticking sound will start.
4 of 5: When there's only a few seconds of smoke left, the ticker will start ticking more loudly and rapidly, and the green lights will start to flicker.
5 of 5: When the ticker dings and the green lights go out, the bees will immediately start flying (and stinging) again.
