Thuggish Splicer Combat Tips
1 of 8: You only have your wrench, so you'll have to whack him to death with that.
2 of 8: From the top of the stairs, you can either charge him or wait until he charges you.
3 of 8: Either way, you're likely to take some damage from the fight. Thankfully, there are several healing items lying around nearby.
4 of 8: As an alternative, you can use his own flaming couch against him.
5 of 8: Let him see you at the top of the stairs, then quickly run down them, past the fiery couch, and crouch-walk back under the jammed door.
6 of 8: The splicer can't follow you under the door, and he's very likely to get burned by the couch while chasing you. (You can also whack him when he's next to the door if you're careful.)
7 of 8: He'll run back up the stairs, but all you have to do to get him back is crouch-walk around the couch and go up a few stairs. When he comes back down after you, crouch-walk back around the couch and through the doorway.
8 of 8: If you're careful and patient, you can repeat this process until the splicer is dead without taking any damage yourself. (Or you can get him heavily damaged and then finish the job easily with your wrench.)
