Bioshock 2 Hints
Defeat Gil's Security Guard.
1 of 4: Stay up next to the locked gate and watch for an alpha series big daddy to drop down onto the central globe.
2 of 4: As soon as he does, use the research camera on him, then start hitting him with various plasmids and weapons. (Rocket spears work especially well, as do head shots with heavy rivets.)
3 of 4: He probably won't come up the stairs to get you, so you can stay up there and strafe to dodge his attacks while shooting him until he goes down. Also, you can try using Telekinesis to return his grenades to him instead of dodging them all.
4 of 4: If he does charge you, you'll need to start dodging him. Use Electro Bolt to temporarily freeze him, then head-shot him with rocket spears, heavy rivets, armor-piercing rounds, etc.
