What about the big daddies that don't have little sisters with them?
1 of 3: After finishing off a little sister's big daddy, you may later find another big daddy of the same type wandering around the same area. He may even have a little sister with him if you haven't dealt with all the region's little sisters yet.
2 of 3: If he doesn't have a little sister with him, you shouldn't automatically assume that he's a "spare" big daddy (one who never has a little sister) if there are any little sisters left in the region. Follow him around a bit until he bangs on a wall vent to see if a little sister comes out.
3 of 3: There's usually no good reason to attack a big daddy who's wandering around alone. The money they have on them isn't worth all the ammo and effort necessary to kill them. (Besides, they can be handy to do a bit of extra camera research on, or to trick other hostiles into fighting.)
