Bioshock 2 Hints

What are the best tonics to splice in?

  • 1 of 7: The most important tonic to keep spliced in from now on is Fountain of Youth, which you should have gotten from researching spider splicers in the previous region.
  • 2 of 7: It allows you to stand in waterfalls and pools of water to regain health and EVE. Doing so is a good, supply-conservative way to heal up after battles. (Note that some shallow pools and streams of water won't work for this -- only the deeper ones.)
  • 3 of 7: Also, you can fire off a few plasmids and then get the EVE back by standing in water. Just try not to use up all your EVE before entering the water, since that would cause you to use an EVE hypo.
  • 4 of 7: It's interesting to note that you'll never use an EVE hypo no matter how many plasmids you fire if you're standing in water. That means you can stand there and fire off unlimited plasmids rapid-fire! The only disadvantage is that you're stuck in one spot. However, you can still take advantage of waterfalls and pools by leading enemies in from other areas, then standing in the water and spamming them with Incinerate! or whatever. (Don't forget to wait until your EVE line refills before you leave the water.)
  • 5 of 7: The Handyman tonic that you found in the previous region is also good to have spliced in. It'll allow you to spend EVE to repair hacked bots and turrets. If you also have Fountain of Youth active, you can get the EVE back for free by standing in water.
  • 6 of 7: Deadly Machines is another good security device tonic to have active, since it makes all of your hacked bots and turrets do more damage.
  • 7 of 7: If you bought the Walking Inferno tonic earlier, splice it in now. It'll partially protect you from houdini splicers' powerful flame attacks. (If you didn't get it earlier, do so as soon as you find another Gatherer's Garden machine.)
