Bioshock 2 Hints
How can I use security devices to weaken a big daddy?
of 9: Before you can do this, you'll need to get the Security Command plasmid, which you'll find soon after you enter the Siren Alley region.
of 9: Hit a big daddy with that plasmid to get all nearby security devices to attack him.
of 9: That will include any hacked bots you have with you. Their attacks will turn him hostile to you, so deactivate them somewhere out of the way before doing this.
of 9: No other security device, hacked or unhacked, will turn a big daddy hostile to you when they attack him in response to your Security Command plasmid. That includes cameras, turrets, unhacked bots, and mini-turrets.
of 9: The big daddy will quickly destroy any bots, turrets, or mini-turrets that attack him, but he won't think to take out a security camera. That makes them the ideal devices to use against big daddies.
of 9: Make sure you have plenty of EVE hypos in stock, then hit a big daddy with Security Command when a security camera can see him. He'll attack the bots that fly in and shoot at him, but when they're destroyed, more will come. When the alarm ends, hit the big daddy with Security Command again to get more bots after him.
of 9: With rumbler big daddies, don't wait until the alarm ends to hit them with Security Command again. Do it every time they deploy a mini-turret so it'll turn against them, too. (Note that this may sometimes turn them hostile to you for no good reason, so always quicksave before using Security Command to weaken a rumbler.)
of 9: If you're willing to expend all the EVE necessary, and are willing to follow a big daddy around until he gets near a security camera, you could actually kill him with repeated applications of the above tips. (And while you're following him around, use the tips on getting splicers to weaken him.)
of 9: TIP: After you rescue or harvest all of a region's little sisters, you can use Security Command and security cameras as a cheap way to kill off spare big daddies for loot.
