Bates' first name.
1 of 8: No one seems to know Bates' first name except Bates, and you can't ask him about it because he'd get suspicious.
2 of 8: Maybe you can find a piece of mail with his name on it.
3 of 8: There's none in his room, so go outside and back to the front gate area to find the mailbox. (Note that you can use the postcard to fast-travel there.)
4 of 8: Click on the mailbox until you get a letter that's addressed to Mr. Bates.
5 of 8: "Mister" probably isn't his first name, so right-click on the letter in inventory to see if there's anything in it that could help.
6 of 8: The letter gives Bates' first and middle names, but neither one immediately brings a particular symbol to Darren's mind.
7 of 8: Go back inside and see if Victoria can help. She's known Bates the longest.
8 of 8: Ask her about Bates' Christian name to learn what the symbol for his middle name is.
