Which slab can I use each staff on?
1 of 3: You can figure it out by correlating the pictures on the staffs with the pictures given in the notepaper reproduction in the diary.
2 of 3: For instance, the notepaper shows a snowflake symbol on the far right slab, so use the ornate staff with the blue snowflake on it on that slab.
3 of 3: Another way to do it is to click each ornate staff on the four slabs that it "lights up" for until you find which one it goes with.
